Company moves global headquarters to the City of Rochester, furthering investment in its business and employees, and commitment to helping contribute to the development of the greater Rochester area.
ROCHESTER, N.Y., June 24, 2024 – Constellation Brands, Inc. (NYSE: STZ), a leading beverage alcohol company, announced today the official grand opening of its new global headquarters at the historic Aqueduct Building campus located at 50 East Broad Street in downtown Rochester, New York.
To mark the occasion, the company welcomed state and local elected officials to the space for a grand opening press event and reception.
“We are thrilled to have officially opened the doors at our new global headquarters in the heart of Rochester where we have been a proud community member for nearly 80 years,” said Bill Newlands, President and Chief Executive Officer at Constellation Brands. “The Aqueduct Building campus will help meet our growing business needs and enable us to better support our passionate and talented employees in the Rochester area while helping to contribute to the positive momentum and vibrancy growing in the city today.”
The Fortune 500 company moved into the newly renovated 170,000 square-foot riverfront campus at the beginning of June. To enhance employees’ in-office experience, and continue to foster collaboration and productivity, the new office space was designed to optimize a combination of hybrid and remote working arrangements, offering more collaboration spaces, open offices for hoteling, and other features like state-of-the-art collaboration technology.
Constellation’s move to this location is one of the major cornerstone projects of the city-sponsored ROC the Riverway initiative which consolidates more than two dozen transformational projects along the Genesee River to restore and contemporize Rochester’s riverfront as a destination hub for entertainment, businesses, and outdoor recreation.
“Constellation Brands’ move to the heart of Rochester will help to drive even more growth along the beautiful Genesee River and create good-paying jobs in the city center," Governor Kathy Hochul said. "Downtown Rochester is becoming a hub for prosperous, talent-rich companies and this transformative project at the historic Aqueduct Building will add another leading business to the mix, unlocking economic opportunity along the waterfront for generations to come."
Senator Chuck Schumer said, “Today, we celebrate a milestone in Rochester's resurgence as Constellation Brands opens its doors at the historic Aqueduct Campus. The intersection where the historic Erie Canal Aqueduct met the Genesee River is the place that launched the ‘Flour City’ and is now the place where Constellation Brands’ new global headquarters will propel the ‘Flower City’s’ spirit of innovation and growth to new heights. Constellation Brands' commitment to investing in downtown Rochester not only revitalizes this iconic location, but also brings hundreds of new jobs, opportunities, and vibrancy to the heart of downtown. I commend Constellation Brands and all who have worked tirelessly to make this vision a reality."
“I'm grateful to join in the celebration for the opening of Constellation Brands’ new headquarters downtown,” said Congressman Morelle. “Their investment in the City of Rochester will help drive our community forward in this period of revitalization and I thank them for their continued commitment. I am proud to welcome them as they join the vibrant fabric of businesses that make Rochester such a special place to call home, and I look forward to our continued work together.”
“Constellation Brands in moving their global headquarters to the historic Aqueduct Building in Downtown Rochester, has established itself as an anchor in our increasingly vibrant and evolving center city. With 300 employees joining our downtown workforce we are reminded of Constellation’s ascendancy as a global leader in the beverage alcohol industry,” said County Executive Adam Bello. “Thank you to Constellation Brands for choosing to invest in Monroe County, to Governor Hochul, Mayor Evans, and everyone who worked hard to make sure this project could succeed.”
“I am honored to welcome the first Fortune 500 company to invest in Rochester in decades,” said Rochester Mayor Malik D. Evans. “Today marks a significant milestone for Constellation Brands and the city. I have no doubt their presence here will help inspire growth and attract even more talent to the area.”
